23rd November 2023 Paul Chris Jones

Hello.

I'm Paul Chris Jones and this is a website dedicated to the Search for the Rowntree.

I made this website because

  1. I am a sad git
  2. I always wanted Kit to find the Rowntree but he never did. He effectively ruined my entire childhood

I don't know if either of those reasons is a good reason for making a website but then again, I also do not know where Seychelles is, so maybe I'm not a person who is good at knowing things.

What was the Search for the Rowntree?

The Search for the Rowntree was an ad campaign in the year 2000 that involved a kid called Kit (Kit the kid you can call him) looking for a special tree called the Rowntree. The Rowntree was special because it made five different fruits, all on one tree, but if you ask me, that is a pretty shit thing to go on a quest for. I mean, Kit can buy five different fruits in a fruit shop, so why does he need to risk his life just to find a tree that does the same thing? If he was going on a quest for the Holy Grail, now that I could understand, or even a quest to find the missing episodes of Doctor Who, the ones that the BBC threw away. Now that would be a good quest. But no, Kit went on a quest to find a sodding fruit tree.

So Kit went off looking for this Rowntree but halfway through his adventure, the company behind me campaign, Nestle, pulled the money out and CANCELLED it, so Kit never found the Rowntree after all. There were only four adverts in total; at least eight were planned.

The search for the Search for the Rowntree

Over the years I have been on my own quest, a quest about a quest if you will, because my quest is to gather as much information about the Search for the Rowntree as possible.

The reason I am on this quest is basically this: the Search for the Rowntree adverts were good. They took place in a strange fantasy world where things were only ever half-explained and the rest was left to your imagination. I liked these adverts and that is the actual reason I made this website. Though being a sad git is also part of it too.

If you remember the Search for the Rowntree too, and I reckon you do, not because I'm psychic but because you wouldn't be here if you didn't, then have a look around. And if you have a moment, let me know in a comment or email what the Search for the Rowntree meant to you.
